Is “Mail” an email address or a street address?

  2. email address.

  3. I see things thus: Does Evansville for Change want to allign itself with the Democratic Party, or do we want to assist in just governance. The Democratic Congress has not stood up very well for “We the People” for years. I want to support any party when it truly works for the “common good.” Often, President Obama will not need our support — he will have enough clout to pass his program; he will have the Democrats behind him. However when he confronts the military/ industrial complex on issues of peace, negotiations, nuclear disarmnament, he may have to compromise his beliefs. This is when he will need our strong support the most… I favor a certain independence. I’m for supporting good governance — based on justice, peace, and the common good.

  4. Well, Bernie Sanders, a Senator from Vermont, is not a Democrat but is as closely alligned with President Obama in his political philosophy as is any Democratic Senator. And then I think Maine Republican Senators Collins and especially Snowe are more alligned in their political thinking with President Obama then is Nebraska Democratic Senator Ben Nelson.

I think EFC should be open enough to accept the views of both die-hard Democrats and also independent thinking people like you, Clark. And certainly I would like to see EFC members, particularly me, getting better educated on the pros and cons of stepping up the troop levels in Afghanistan. I thought that email you forwarded to many of us comparing Ike and Korea with Obama and Afghanistan was very informative…..clearly something I was clueless on.

President Obama has sent legislation to Congress with regard to reducing the benefits to US Corporation (83 out of the 100 largest) who shelter profits due to off shore business locations. Some Democrats have “pushed back” on this legislation. If you’d like to see this part of our tax code changed, you need to contact Senator Bayh, Senator Lugar and Congressman Ellsworth and let them know that you support the President on this issue. Otherwise, this legislation will go the way of the recent bankruptcy reform legislation that would have allowed judges to modify mortgages for those in bankruptcy so that they could keep their homes.

Also, health care legislation is in the process of being written up by various congressional committees with a target date of May 25th for the start of committee hearings. If you believe in single payer health insurance as a way to get administrative costs reduced, you need to let your representatives know that you support HR676. If you believe that there should be a public option and not just private insurance plans, you need to let them know that too. If you believe that we should have Medicare for all, with it’s combination of public financing with private insurance supplements, you need to let them know that too.

In any case, please remember that the issue is universal health care for all and NOT affordable health insurance. You can buy “affordable” health insurance now with high deductibles and co-pays and a lack of payment for what ever the insurance company may deem was a “pre-existing” condition.

One of my daughters worked in England for several years and had two occassions to use their national health care service with good results. I have relatives in Denmark and Australia and they haven’t had any problems with the use of their health insurance programs. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any problems. But, the problems are probably no worse than they are in this country. So, don’t let government involvement in health care scare you. Those on Medicare will tell you that it can work well. So get those calls, letters and e-mails going! Ray Andersen

Can someone please tell me who will be paying for the national health care? I think it should be Michael Moore. What do you think Clark?
