Community Service Committee
June 4, 2009
The EFC Community Service Committee is encouraging members to participate in this volunteer opportunity to assist Aurora, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Evansville.
- Tuesday, June 9th 1:30-5:00PM
- Aurora annex, 424 S. Kentucky Avenue
- Aurora bulk mail assembly program

Our next committee meeting is:
- 6:00pm - McDonalds at the corner of Washington and hwy 41
- We will be discussing the Glenwood neighborhood cleanup project and other potential communty service activities
We also have the opportunity to participate in an Aurora program Saturday, June 13th. I will post more info when it becomes available
April 21, 2009 Meeting
Those in attendance: (6) Lucy Williams, Andrea Baltzell, Cathy Edrington, Ann Shank, DeLois Freeman, and Katie Griffin
Glenwood Neighborhood Association Youth Litter Patrol
(associated with the Great American Clean-Up w/ Keep America Beautiful)
- Location: Calwell Park, Sweetzer and Governor

- Need:
o Individual Bags of chips
o Bottled water
o Adult supervisors for the youth
o Bring rakes and gloves if coming to work
o Need $10 for kids membership dues for the Boys and Girls Club
§ Need dues for 30 kids, currently have $ for 20 kids
· If they don’t have enough, will draw names out of a hat
§ Extra $ will be donated to Boys and Girls Club
§ Make checks payable The Boys and Girls Club
· If people would like to donate money, they may email me, and I will send them Lucy Williams’s address.
- Boys and Girls Club
o Andrea will be contacting someone to try to get us an appointment to tour the new facility after the clean-up.
Graffiti Removal and Neighborhood Clean-Up
- Date: In June, exact date will be announced later
- Location: In the Glenwood Area
Bank on Evansville
- Date: May 21 at 6 PM
- Location: Zion Missionary Baptist (Sweetzer and Governor)
Old National Park (the park directly across from our former Obama office)
- Cathy is contacting the Mayor asking if we can do something to clean-up the park
Monthly meetings
- Encouraging people to bring cans to meetings
- Cans will be donated to local shelters on a rotational basis.
Other possible projects:
- Holly’s House
- Ruth’s House
Trying to do one community service event every two months as a group:
- Will post other events, but will really try to push one event every two months
- April: Glenwood Neighborhood Association Youth Litter Patrol
- June – Graffiti Patrol and Neighborhood Clean-up with the Glenwood
Ballard Neighborhood Association Clean-Up
- Date: May 16, time is unknown
- Location: Bellemeade Park

- As this is Estella’s neighborhood, we will contact her for further information and update the notes here.

■Saturday June 13 at Casino Aztar Events Plaza, downtown Evansville
■Registration at 8:00 am
■Walk begins 9:00 am
■Comminity Celebration with music, food and activities for all ages 11:00
■If you choose to walk
■$15.00 for walk and entry fee to celebration ($5.00 for celebration only – Children 12 and under free)
■Volunteer opportunities
■Route guides
■Must be 18 years old or older
■8:00 am until your location is clear of walkers
■Will be pre-assigned to a location along the walk route
■May leave after the walk ends or may request reassignment to another role
■Children’s Activities Assistants
■Any age
■Will assist activity leaders with conducting the games
■Time commitment 8:00 am to approximately 2:00 pm
